which was highly praised by foreign media.
#Heterogeneous combination of genres... “Like a piece of comprehensive
art”
'Queen of Tears' not only contains the sad and beautiful romance between
the two main characters played by Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won. The
intrigue within the chaebol family, the love and misunderstanding between
families, and the activities of the surrounding characters are reminiscent
of a comedy show. The American Time magazine said of 'Queen of Tears', "If
there's one thing K-drama does better than any other format, it's mixing
genres to create fresh combinations." Canada's Screenrant commented,
"Drama and comedy are perfectly combined, and scenes that bring laughter
and tears at the same time are the specialty of 'Queen of Tears.'"
#Jakgambae Trinity...writer's story + director's directing + actors'
passionate performances
'Queen of Tears' is written by writer Park Ji-eun, who produced numerous
global hits such as 'Crash Landing on You (2019)', 'Legend of the Blue Sea
(2016)', and 'My Love from the Star (2013)', as well as 'Bulgasal'. The
combination of director Jang Young-woo, who directed 'Vincenzo' and
director Kim Hee-won, who directed 'Little Women', and actors Kim Soo-hyun
and Kim Ji-won, who have accumulated a variety of films with unrivaled
charm, attracted great expectations even before the start.
The result of this well-planned combination exceeded expectations.
Foreign media unanimously said, “The power of the writer who created the
story, the beautiful directing that made you unable to take your eyes off
even a single moment, and the passionate performances of the actors who
embodied all of this were truly the ‘perfect trinity.’” Canada's
Screenrant said, "There are many reasons for the success of Queen of
Tears, but the 'writer is called a legend of K-drama', 'fairy-tale
directing', 'balanced characters', all the actors' passionate
performances, and especially the chemistry between the lead actors.
“Fantastic,” he said, adding, “The cast shows amazing acting in every
scene, and the acting of all the characters, from the supporting cast to
the main cast, is raising the quality of the work.”
