The group BTS has once again set a first record in Japan.
According to the 'Reiwa (Japanese era name starting from 2019) ranking'
announced by Japan's Oricon on the 19th, BTS ranked first in the
'comprehensive ranking' in the sales category by artist. BTS is the first
foreign singer to reach the top of the 'comprehensive ranking' of the
Oricon era ranking.
This ranking was calculated by calculating the total sales of singles,
albums, music DVDs, Blu-rays, digital singles, albums, and streaming from
May 2019 to January 2024. Based on total sales, BTS achieved good results in
the following order: albums (36.6%), music DVDs/Blu-rays (33.8%), and
streaming (25%).
BTS's progress also stood out in detailed charts. They are ranked in
sales in a total of 8 categories, including 'Combined Single',
'Combined Album', 'Single', 'Album', 'Digital Single', 'Digital
Album', 'Streaming', and 'Music DVD/Blu-ray'. Sweeped first place
among overseas singers.
As many as six works, including the 2021 fan meeting live video 'BTS
2021 MUSTER SOWOOZOO' and the 2019 'LOVE YOURSELF' tour's finale
concert live video 'BTS WORLD TOUR 'LOVE YOURSELF:SPEAK YOURSELF' 'THE
FINAL'', are It entered the ‘Top 50’ on the ‘DVD/Blu-ray’ chart. BTS
achieved the feat of recording first place in the number of works in
the 'Top 50', beating out prominent local singers, and became the only
foreign singer ranked in this ranking.
BTS' best album 'BTS, THE BEST', released in June 2023, ranked 6th on
the 'Album' chart, selling more than 1.05 million copies. In this
ranking, BTS is the only foreign singer to have sold more than 1
million copies with a single album.
